Who we are

Batanat ("we", "us") designs, builds and runs AI agents for businesses. We are based at Lockwood Place, Mugoiri Road, Kileleshwa, Nairobi, Kenya. For the personal data described on this page, we are the data controller. We handle it in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.

What we collect, and why

When you book a discussion or chat with Neema

The booking form and our booking assistant, Neema, ask for your name, email address, company, role, team size, country, what you want to discuss, your timeline, and optionally your phone number. We use this to decide whether we can help, to reply to you, and to schedule a meeting. If a meeting is booked, your name and email go on the calendar invitation.

Neema is an AI agent. Your messages to her are processed by Google's Gemini model to generate replies, and the conversation is stored on our servers so it can continue and so that we can follow up. Please do not share sensitive personal information in the chat.

When you apply for a role

The careers form collects your name, email, location, optional phone number, links to your work, your CV, your cover letter and a short video. We use these only to assess you for current and future roles at Batanat. Files are stored in a private Google Drive folder and a spreadsheet that only our team can open. You agree to us keeping your application on file when you submit the form.

When you contact us directly

If you email, call or message us on WhatsApp, we keep the correspondence so we can respond and keep a record of the relationship.

Technical data

Our host records standard request information such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, which we use to keep the site secure and working. We use your IP address to rate-limit the chat and the careers form. We do not run advertising or analytics trackers on this site, and we do not set tracking cookies. The chat keeps its current conversation in your browser's session storage so it survives a page refresh; it is cleared when you close the tab.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the services that help us run the site and the business, acting on our instructions:

We may also disclose data where the law requires it. These providers operate outside Kenya, so your data may be transferred and stored abroad. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards those providers offer and on the requirements of the Data Protection Act.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and chat records for as long as they are useful for following up and for our business records. Job applications stay on file while we consider you for current and future roles. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will do so unless we have to keep it by law.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, delete it, stop or limit how we use it, and withdraw consent you gave us. Email martin@batanat.com and we will respond within the time the law allows. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya at odpc.go.ke.

Security

We limit access to personal data to the people who need it, use encrypted connections, and keep applicant files in private storage. No system is completely secure, so please take care with what you send us.

Children

This site is for businesses and job applicants. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
